Immigration Equality represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and HIV-positive immigrants. Immigration Equality provides in-house representation for clients in the New York City area. For clients located elsewhere in the United States, Immigration Equality places the cases with a network of pro bono attorneys who are mentored by Immigration Equality staff.

 

Areas of immigration legal assistance: Asylum, SIJS, U Visa, binational couple adjustment of status, detention advocacy, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Family-based petitions, removal hearings, filings with USCIS, representation at asylum interviews (Credible Fear Interviews, Reasonable Fear Interviews), removal defense, Representation before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), Federal court appeals
