Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) provides free legal assistance to low-income residents of all New Jersey counties in civil matters.
As a Legal Orientation Program (LOP) provider at the Essex and Hudson County Correctional Facilities, LSNJ informs detained immigrants about their rights and immigration procedures.
LSNJ represents eligible clients in immigration matters such as U Visa, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) cases, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS &ndash; immigration portion only), and a limited number of defensive asylum cases.
Legal help is available by phone or online in Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, and Korean, with services accessible to the hearing-impaired.
